Fuelling enterprise in Britain and making business accessible through Start-Up loans and free, quality mentoring
It was recently announced that the iconic Sir Bob Geldof, is to kick off the Rockstar Group’s series of business incubators on Jan 18th 2014, delivering a keynote speech to inspire attendees to pursue their business aspirations.
From the massive success of the Boomtown Rats in the seventies and eighties, to founding charity super-group Band Aid to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia, and the globally recognized Live Aid and Live 8 concerts, Sir Bob Geldof’s musical and social contribution have made him one of the country’s most accomplished social and business entrepreneurs.
In 1992 Geldof co-founded TV production company Planet 24 which pioneered early morning breakfast TV with The Big Breakfast before its sale to Carlton TV in 1999 and has gone on to create, run and develop a host of other successful ventures. The latest of which being a private equity fund for African development and which has just achieved its second close at over USD 400,000,000.
In recognition of some of his achievements Geldof has been honored with a knighthood by the Queen, nominated seven times for the Nobel Peace Prize and received the Nobel Man of Peace title, which recognises individuals who have made “an outstanding contribution to international social justice and peace.” In September this year Geldof was presented with The Freedom of The City of London for his outstanding contribution to the development of business and entrepreneurialism in London.
